Aluminum pipe, which is characterized by a round or oval sectional shape, is actively used in many fields of activity. Products are found in industry, construction, engineering, they are used to create ships, houses, planes, gas, water, and others. Aluminum (round, oval, square) pipes are also used in furniture production, as decor elements in the design of partitions and stairs .

Round aluminum pipe

Pipes with a circular cross section made of aluminum are used very widely in construction and other fields.

Varieties and properties of products

The variety of designs is very large. So, there are thin-walled and thick-walled aluminum pipes. The first type is characterized by a wall thickness of not more than 5 millimeters, the second - 5 mm and above. Among the production methods, there are pressing (GOST 18482), cold forming (GOST 18475) and welding (GOST 23697). Elements are available in various lengths.

Another classification criterion for aluminum structures is the type of heat treatment, according to which they distinguish:

  • annealed (M);
  • hardened, artificially aged (T1);
  • hardened, naturally aged (T);
  • without heat treatment.

The cross-sectional shape of such products can be square, round, rectangular, profile. The distinctive characteristics of aluminum pipes include flexibility, ductility, low weight, and the ability to complex deformations, ease of machining, low roughness, environmental friendliness. Structures made of such elements are more advantageous in terms of material costs than similar ones made of steel.

Round aluminum pipe

The weight of the aluminum pipe will be less than that of the exact same steel

Characteristics of products from various alloys

Designs of round, oval cross-section are made of aluminum alloy, characterized by high strength.

Note! Additionally, the pipes can be treated with anodic oxide or powder coating.

Alloys of the following grades are used for production: AMg2, AMg60, AMgZ, AMgZS, AD31, AMg5, AD35, AB, AD1, AD00, AD0, ADS, AD, AMC, D1, AMTSS, D16, V95, AK6. Their chemical composition must comply with GOST 4784 and 11069.

Table 1 shows some characteristics of the products.

Table 1

Product Description
AMg5 Versatile, functional, durable.
Dural D16 Another name for the material is duralumin or duralumin. This alloy of aluminum and alloying substances (copper, magnesium, manganese, etc.) is highly durable.
Aluminum D16T Products are made from duralumin, but heat-treated.
Duralumin D16T The material lends itself to heat treatment, hardening, aging. Such products are characterized by high strength (including fatigue and static), as well as fracture toughness. Corrosion resistance is ensured by cladding the pipe with pure aluminum.
Aluminum AMg2M Products have high ductility, thermal conductivity, resistance to aggressive working components and easy weldability.

Features of products with thick walls

Round structures are usually classified according to the ratio of their cross-sectional diameter to the existing wall thickness. So, they distinguish especially thick-walled (if the indicator is less than 6), thick-walled (6-12.5) and thin-walled aluminum pipes.The latter is characterized by a value exceeding 12.5.

Round aluminum pipe

In conditions of high pressure, a thick-walled pipe should be used, while a thin-walled pipe is indispensable where lightweight construction is needed.

Thick-walled aluminum pipe is produced measured (from 4.5 to 9 m), unmeasured (from 1.5 to 11.5 m) and measured multiple (from 1.5 to 9 m) length, taking into account five millimeters for cutting. The choice of structures of this type during the construction of various engineering structures and systems is due to the special conditions of their use - the increased pressure of the transported media, as well as their low temperatures and chemical aggressiveness.

Products are operated in the food and chemical industries for the transfer of gaseous and liquid substances, in the mining industry - for the construction of wells for the extraction of natural resources. From thick-walled elements, lightweight frames are made when arranging wells, pools and galleries; enclosures for engineering communications for various purposes.

Using oval aluminum tubes

In some cases, an oval aluminum pipe is more preferable for use than a round one. For example, it may be necessary to lay the pipeline in a narrow, limited space, but with increased requirements for its throughput.

Note! With the same diameter, an aluminum round pipe has a cross-sectional area, and, therefore, the throughput is less than the oval analog.

For this reason, such products are beneficial for private housing construction, when it is impossible or very difficult to allocate enough space in the project for communications. Oval pipes look more aesthetically pleasing when passing through the premises of a residential or office destination. They can be interestingly decorated. Products are often found as structural elements of various economic and functional buildings (greenhouses, arbors, etc.). In this case, oval pipes are used to achieve design goals.

Aluminum structures are practically not affected by the negative effects of the environment and the products that are transported through them. Such elements have sufficient strength and are easy to install.
