State Standard 8645 defines the assortment of pipes of rectangular sections made of steel. It applies to electric-welded, cold-, hot-deformed, electrically-welded, hot-calibrated, seamless, electrically-welded, cold-deformed products, as well as to structures produced by the method of furnace welding.

There are many sizes of such pipes, and they can be produced both in standard sizes and in non-standard ones at the request of the customer. This is due to the fact that rectangular pipes are used in construction, furniture production, and various other metal structures, and standard pipe section sizes do not always fit into the designer's idea. In addition, the construction of load-bearing structures requires accurate preliminary calculation according to mathematical formulas, the results of which determine the desired pipe section.
